It was established almost 60 years ago to serve the graphic arts industry. An international company, Lüscher has branch offices in Germany, England, Spain and the US. Over the years, Lüscher has broadened its scope to include the development and manufacture of high-quality mechanical and electronic solutions for the pre-press, digital large-format print, textile and screen printing markets. Lüscher systems are sold throughout the world via its extensive distribution network to trade shops, commercial and package printers, metal decorating, business forms and security printers. Lüscher’s commercial success is based on maintaining high quality and product standards and through establishing and retaining very close relationships with the users of its products. Although renowned for its expertise for laser based computer–to–plate systems, Lüscher has gained considerable expertise and commercial success with ink jet technology as well. Several years ago it introduced the JetScreen, an innovative series of flatbed printers for filmless electronic transfer of images directly to silkscreen masters. This process is known as computer-to-screen (CTS). JetScreen is used in many applications such as point-of-purchase displays, packaging and decorative applications like surface graphics onto glass, plastics, ceramics, wood and laminates. Since its introduction, over 250 systems have been installed worldwide. Lüscher’s most recent product, the JetPrint, is the market’s largest UV curable, flatbed ink jet production printer. It has an image area of 3 by 3.5 meters and can accommodate substrates of up to 8 centimeters in thickness. The printer can be configured to run 4 or 8 colors at resolutions of up to 600 dots per inch. Both the JetScreen and JetPrint systems use Spectra printheads. Lüscher’s choice of Dimatix was predicated on their need to develop and offer highly reliable printers with superior image quality, and the ability to run in a sustained production mode for long periods using high pigment UV curable and hot-melt inks. Spectra printheads meet their needs precisely. “We recognized that ink jet technology was going to be an important adjunct to our core business. Initially, we began our program with a thorough investigation of our options. We quickly concluded that Spectra printheads had all the right features such as performance, precision and in-the-field reliability; Attributes that are so important to our customers and to us.” LÜSCHER AG Kilian Hintermann Technical Director Ink Jet Division – Lüscher AG Product: Application: Printhead: Ink Type: Jets Per System: Printhead Features: customer profile www.dimatix.com JetScreen JetPrint Galaxy PH 256/80 HM S-Class JetScreen & JetPrint CTP and Graphic Displays & Point-of-Purchase Spectra® Galaxy & S-Class UV Curable & Hot Melt Up to 8192 Performance, Precision, and Reliability Lüscher AG is a privately owned company headquartered in Leutwil Switzerland.
